30 Weeks.

So I haven’t done one of these survey things for years now since I actually paid attention to my myspace….but I thought it would be fun and help me put some random facts down about this pregnancy since I hear about pregnancy “amnesia” after you have the baby…

Your name? Kirby

Father’s name? Mark

Are you still with him? Yup going on three years married

Were you trying to get pregnant? Yes (which will surprise a bunch of people) we have our reasons!

When did you find out? I don’t remember the exact date……something close to 7 months ago.

Were did you find out? Our old hell of an apartment in Bushwick (barf)

How far along were you? …hahaha we still don’t know the answer to that question, I could have been as many as five weeks and as little as three, we’ll know better when she is born

What was your reaction? Shock and excitment, I think it took a month or two to REALLY settle in.

Who was the first person you told? My current roommate who was in the next room.

How did you tell the father? Yup, taped the pee stick to a drink in the fridge I knew would be the first thing he would grab when he got home from work that day.

What was his reaction? Even more shock then I was in!

When is your due date? April 10th 2010, but if I am farther along (which is what we think) I may go in mid March.

Did you have any morning sickness? YES the WHOLE first trimester, Mark spent a ton of time keeping that bathroom clean for me to just mess up! Some in the second and now it’s making its return in the last two months.

Cravings? Anything and everything white, pasta, ramen, cottage cheese and anything sweet. I’ve spent a bit of time Sugar Sweet Sunshine a great bakery on the LES that has the BEST Banana Pudding EVER, seriously if you line in NYC go it will change your life!

Food Aversions? In the beginning anything that smelled like garlic would make me gag. I was vegan before I got pregnant but anything soy including my fave soy milk was no longer appetizing. The list could go on really it was hit or miss with any kind of food.

Worst pregnancy symptoms? The nausea and not being able to sleep through the night, they tell you to get your rest when you can since the baby will keep you up but that’s just a mean joke I’m convinced. I sleep maybe five broken hours a night if I’m lucky now a days.

Other common symptoms you had? Back pain, butt pain, mood swings, hip pain…..really any kind of “body” pain. I’m a lil girl and I swear my body hit the tipping point of being as big as it can take almost two weeks ago. Oh and lets not forget about the infamous Cankles! The first day of my third trimester I took my boots off and what mark and I saw scared us both, CANKLES! They don’t hurt but look horrible on my short lil legs.

Funniest pregnancy moment? My lack of balance makes me an ever amusing form of entertainment for my husband.

Favorite pregnancy moment? When the baby moves around to Mark’s voice she loves hearing him talk and sing it’s amazing how she knows.

Worst pregnancy moment? Any of the sick/crying/thinking I’ll never make it through moments.

Awkward stranger moment? We were at the baby shower of some friends and this woman was going on and on about how after the baby is a month old you have to ignore them EVERY time they cry so you don’t spoil them. I was truly wishing I had laser beams for eyes.

How has the father been through this? AMAZING, took him while to figure it all out. It’s hard in the beginning I think for fathers, the prego doesn’t look pregnant yet but feels horrible. I think it’s easier for a partner to understand when they can see the belly and feel the baby. This has brought our relationship to another level for sure though. I’ve seen sides of my husband that romantic movies are made of. I’m a very lucky gal.

Does baby like music? LOVES it. She loves it when her daddy sings and plays for her and she’s really been digging Jackson 5. I swear it’s the Desmarais in her. I’ll actually use pandora to listen to more Jackson 5 then what I own at work and she rocks out. LOVES the song Rockin Robin which is really cute being it was one of my fave songs growing up.

Stretch marks? Tummy, nope not yet but my skin is getting tighter and tighter. The boobs…oh good lets not even talk about those…..yes I have boobs for the first time ever! Are they the boobs I’ve always wanted? No, stretch marks are a mean thing.

Hardest part of pregnancy? The first trimester, I was so sick that I was in the hospital TWICE!

What are your fears? Balancing my newly busy company with being a parent.

Did you want a boy or girl? We want a healthy baby.

Do you know what your having? A lil girl even though I thought it was a boy for like the first 5 months lol, another shocking moment!

Do you have a name picked out? Georgiah Ruby- The H in her name is for one of my friends growing up who passed away.

How much weight have you gained? I don’t know, I’m going to a natural pregnancy/birth with a midwife (I promise to post more about this later) and weighing in is not part of the prenatal check ups. I’m thinking 20 pounds at this point. I’m lucky, most has gone to my tummy but I’m starting to see it in my legs a lil more which I hate. Could just be the extra fluid in my body though.

Have you felt the baby move? Yup, since early on, 13 weeks! She’s slowed WAY down in the past week which is another hint I’m further along then we think…

Do you plan on a natural or medicated birth? natural, at home, hypnobirth…again I promise to post about this sometime soon!

Are you scared about labor? Nope.

What do you think will be the worst part of labor? Waiting for it to come!

Have you taken any classes? We start our Hypnobirth classes in Feb. Even though we’ve read a TON of books and Mark has been reading the hypnobirth book out loud to me since we got it (love him).

Who will be in the delivery room? Midwife, acupuncturist, Mark, Doula….maybe more people we’ll see when I go into labor.

Are you having the birth videotaped? nope pictures though.

Do you think you will cry when you see the baby for the first time? Not sure, hormones are crazy crazy things.

What do you think the fathers reaction to the baby will be? He will more then sure cry lol, he’ll be crying when I go into labor!

How do you think family and friends will feel? Excited! Our close friends have been so supportive and helpful already, they can’t wait to meet her as much as us!
