Dear Baby G,

Life is not easy. You will be faced with hard things, you will at some point (multiple points) be dealt cards that just don’t seem fair. Above all else you have got to face every obstacle with your head held high and just be. Sometimes this means taking a big scary step forward (or even backwards) and sometimes this means just remembering to breath.

The above photo is of a lovely young woman Amy, she is sick but she is handling with such grace such dignity. I’m in awe of almost ever single blog post by this beautiful soul. She has so much positive energy radiating out of her even in her darkest moments she has had so far fighting her illness. I don’t know what this woman’s mother taught her, how to have the faith she has in life, but I truly hope I can instill this in you when you grow up and become the woman you will soon be. The fact that she had the confidence to post this photo and share her struggle with the world so openly is beautiful. You should always support strong people like this baby in their ventures.

I hope we never as a family have to look a sickness in the face like this young woman is doing right now. I also hope you can grow up with the compassion to care for others and keep them in your thoughts, even strangers which leads me to saying, “Amy you’re beautiful, hair or no hair! While we may be a group of complete strangers in this big old city, you really do have a little Brooklyn family here for you across the East River. Tumblr is just good like that”
