My Fave Prego & Baby Books

I readreadread a TON when I was pregnant. Seriously I maybe able to pass some sort of midwife or Douala class blind folded right now from the the information I took in. Here’s the top three books I would recommend to every pregnant (and not pregnant) Momma out there.

Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care

Some people like to call this book a “scare” book. I don’t understand that comment because it’s based on facts and numbers. This is how my brain works, on facts and numbers. This is the book that also made me solidly decide I wanted a home birth. If there is one thing anyone who’s pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant can take from this blog I hope it’s the decision to read this book. It’s information anyone interested in birth should know. It’s a good read for the non-prego also. My husband and BFF (who’s also a man) read it and loved it. By far my #1 book recommendation.

Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth

Yes, this book is “hippy dippy” but I would recommend it in place of the traditional “What To Expect” books. This book has a great way of instilling confidence in the pregnant Momma and her body.

The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two

Dr. Sears is amazing! I love his support of co-sleeping, attachment parenting, baby wearing, and positive parenting. This book has been our bible. We got it after the baby was born, I would recommend getting it when pregnant to prepare for baby. I just also read Dr. Sears’ “Nighttime Parenting” which further backed my faith in this Doctor’s advice. I’m the kind of person who needs explanations for everything and he offers that. I’m looking forward to reading his vaccine book next
