Oh my little love, there is something I need to share with you. When you get older don’t hesitate to take some time to yourself. It’s been more then three years I’ve been alone for more than 12 hours. You and your dad are gallivanting round Montreal and I opted out of the trip for THREE full days of no one but me and my dog at home.
I didn’t realize how much I needed this time. Being able to leave the house knowing there’s no one I have to rush home to and having time to breath is so amazing. It also does’t hurt that it’s almost 70 degrees in NYC this weekend and feels like spring as I sit here with every window in the house open.
I’ve done a little trick to make this weekend as relaxing as possible, I’ve taken off the watch, covered the time up with a piece of tape on my upper right hand corner of my computer, and just let the day go without a timeline. Of coarse I have my to do list but I’m fluidly working through everything without stressing over it.
Sleeping in, leisurely walks with my dog, yoga in pure quiet in my house at 10am, catching up with well over due work, and just decompressing after god only knows how long has been rejuvenating.
When you become a mom dear don’t forget to take some down time for yourself, not busy vacations, not a few hours here or there, but a full on break every now and then, it will make you a nicer person and a better mom.
